Return Policy
At The Panchrome Project, we take great pride in the quality, handling, and sourcing of our analog products. However, due to the nature of photographic goods—particularly films, chemicals, and specialized equipment—certain limitations apply with regard to returns, exchanges, and liability. Please read the following policies carefully before placing your order.
1. Film Products – No Return or Exchange
All films sold by The Panchrome Project are fresh stocks and are categorized as Consumables. As such, once a purchase is made, we do not accept returns or exchanges under any circumstances, including change of mind or incorrect orders. This policy ensures the integrity of our film stock chain, and prevents compromised handling or temperature-related risks from returned goods.
2. Photographic Chemicals – Liability for Storage
Our chemical products (e.g., developers, fixers, stabilizers) are freshly imported and securely packed to prevent damage during transit. Upon delivery, the responsibility for proper storage and handling lies entirely with the buyer. Should the chemical undergo physical changes such as separation, crystallization, or discoloration due to incorrect storage (e.g., exposure to heat, sunlight, or air), The Panchrome Project shall not be held liable and no replacement will be issued. We emphasize that photographic chemicals are highly sensitive to environmental conditions and must be stored as per the guidelines provided. Please ensure your storage practices meet those standards upon receipt.
3. Darkroom Equipment – Returns Under Warranty Only
Products from our partner brands such as Jobo, Cinestill, and others are covered under their respective manufacturer warranties. If an item is found to be defective or non-functional upon delivery:
-
The buyer must report the issue within 24 - 48 hours of delivery via email, including clear photographic/video proof.
-
All warranty-related claims are subject to vendor approval and their specific terms and conditions.
Please be advised that all replacements involving imported goods are subject to Customs Duty under Indian law. In case a replacement is approved by the vendor, the buyer shall bear any applicable customs duties or clearance charges. The Panchrome Project cannot be held liable for delays in international shipments or vendor-side decision timelines.
4. Incorrectly Ordered Products
If a buyer places an incorrect order (e.g., selects the wrong product type, quantity, or variant), such purchases are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange. In these cases, The Panchrome Project will not be involved in facilitating resale or exchange.
Buyers are welcome to arrange peer-to-peer exchanges or sales through appropriate community platforms or via The Panchrome Project's P2P network, if available, at their own risk and discretion.
5. Film Storage and Resulting Damage
Films are sensitive to temperature and humidity, and improper storage may lead to defects such as:
-
Mottling of negatives
-
Emulsion breakdown
-
Canister rusting
To avoid these issues, The Panchrome Project strongly recommends refrigerating all films immediately upon receipt. If damage occurs due to poor storage on the buyer’s part, no claim for refund, exchange, or replacement will be entertained. This policy exists to preserve product quality and ensure fairness in transactions.
