About the Role
At Panchrome, design is not decoration.
It is structure, clarity, and intent.
Our visual language is shaped by film photography — where every frame matters, every element is deliberate, and nothing is excessive.
We value:
• Restraint over noise
• Typography over effects
• Composition over clutter
• Process over speed
What We Expect From Designers
1. You Understand Why, Not Just How
You should be able to explain:
• Why a layout works
• Why a typeface is chosen
• Why elements are placed in a certain way
Not just “it looks good”.
2. You Can Work With Restraint
We prefer:
• Minimal layouts
• Strong typography
• Thoughtful spacing
Over:
• Over-designed visuals
• Excessive filters, gradients, and effects
3. You Pay Attention to Detail
We notice:
• Alignment
• Spacing
• Typography consistency
• Margins and grid systems
Small details matter.
4. You Respect Photography
Design should support the image, not overpower it.
Understanding how to work with photography as the primary visual element is critical.
5. You Can Think Across Formats
You should be comfortable designing for:
• Social media
• Posters and events
• Product and packaging
• Ecommerce and website visuals
What We Don’t Look For
• Template-heavy design thinking
• Overuse of effects, shadows, and unnecessary elements
• Trend-driven design without reasoning
• Generic “Instagram-style” layouts without structure
What Will Make You Stand Out
• Strong understanding of typography and layout systems
• Clean, intentional portfolio (less work, but better work)
• Ability to combine photography + design seamlessly
• Sensitivity towards visual culture, not just tools
